Hello! My name is Sarah Maier, and I am thrilled to serve as principal of Shady Grove Elementary School in Davie County. I have more than 12 years of experience in education and fully believe in helping each student to reach his or her fullest potential.
Before coming to Shady Grove, I served four years as principal of Friedberg Elementary School in Davidson County. During my career, I taught third grade, worked with teachers as a district curriculum specialist, and served as an assistant principal at three elementary schools. I graduated from High Point University, earning a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, and earned a master's degree in School Administration from Gardner-Webb University.
I am the mother of a sweet and spunky four-year-old daughter, Avalyn Grace. Together we enjoy fostering kittens through the Humane Society and doing anything outdoors. Avalyn is my inspiration to create a positive school environment in which all students experience success.
I believe that all students can learn; it is just a matter of figuring out their individual educational needs. Working with teachers to grow students is a passion of mine. I am thrilled to have to opportunity to work with the Shady Grove community and collaborate with all stakeholders at Shady Grove Elementary!
