Scholarship opportunities for current Seniors (Class of 2020) will be posted on this site as they come into our office.  Most local scholarship applications will not come available until November or later.  Please check this page often as it is frequently updated.

Monthly Newsletter

A newsletter is sent out each month with additional scholarship and college information.  Seniors will have an opportunity to put their email and a parent email on the distribution list the first few weeks in September.  If you would like to make sure you are on the list, please email your counselor.

Horatio Alger Scholarship
Deadline:  October 25, 2019
Open to graduating seniors who have faced and overcome great obstacles in their lives.

Mary & Elliott Wood Foundation Parker McClendon Scholarship
Deadline:  October 25, 2019
Open to graduating seniors who have been involved in scouting for at least 3 years (males and/or females) and demonstrate growth toward the aims of Scouting in character, citizenship, personal fitness and leadership.  Applicants must be a resident of Davie or Davidson Counties, have a weighted GPA of at least 4.0 and a mininum SAT of 1400 or ACT of 29.
You must be nominated by your school to gain access to the application.  If you wish to be nominated please email Erin Brown @ browne@davie.k12.nc.us to be nominated no later than October 25, 2019.
If you qualify, you will be given access to the application and the application will be due by December 9, 2019.  This scholarship is renewable for four years and is usually worth around $6,000 per year.


VFW Voice of Democracy Speech Contest
Deadline:  October 30, 2019
Official contest rules state the deadline is October 31.  We need you to turn your application materials in to Student Services by October 30 so we can get it to the VFW Post on 10/31.
Contest theme for 2019 is "What Makes America Great".

Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship
Deadline:  November 5, 2019
Open to graduating seniors planning to continue their education.  Scholarships will be awarded based on: leadership, academics, community involvement, and financial need.  Your counselor will have to send documents on your behalf.  Please make sure your counselor is aware you are applying.

Jack Kent Cooke College Scholarship Program

Deadline:  November 13, 2019
Open to graduating seniors who have at least a 3.5 unweighted GPA, SAT of 1200 or higher or ACT of 26 or higher, and have a family income of less than $95,000 per year.

The Thomas Wolfe Scholarship @ UNC Chapel Hill
Deadline: November 15, 2019 
Open to graduating seniors who apply to UNC Chapel Hill by October 15, 2019 who are planning to major in writing or at least minor in writing.

NC HSAA Cheerleading Scholarship
Deadline:  November 15, 2019
Applicant must be a member of a cheerleading squad registered for and participating in the NCHSAA Cheerleading Invitational event that year.  This scholarship recognizes and rewards outstanding cheerleaders exemplifying sound character and academic standing, good sportsmanship, and school spirit by providing financial assistance in furthering his or her college/university education.

NC State Elks Association Nursing Scholarship
Deadline:  December 8, 2019 (Plan to mail no later than Tuesday, November 26)
Open to graduating seniors who are seeking admission to a nursing program (you must be enrolled for the award to be paid, but you can be in the planning stages at the time of application).  There is a counselor report that goes with this application.  Please make sure your counselor has been given this form by November 1 to complete.  All portions of the application should be mailed together to:

Open to single moms, children of single moms, and those who have been closely impacted by a single mother.

NCHSAA Charlie Adams Endowed Scholarship
Deadline:  February 7, 2020
Awarded to one senior male high school athlete participating on the varsity wrestling team and one senior female high school athlete participating on the varsity cross-country team at a North Carolina High School Athletic Association member high school. Recipients will each recieve a one-time scholarship award in the amount of $1,500.00.

NCHSAA Pat Gainey Student Award
Deadline:  February 7, 2020
To provide scholarship support for two student-athletes with a focus on need-based applicants.  Applicants must be either a senior, male high school athlete participating on a varsity baseball team or a senior, female student high school athlete participating on a varsity sports team at a North Carolina High School Athletic Association member high school within a county of limited financial resources. Each recipient receives a one-time $5,000.00 scholarship award.

NCHSAA Wilburn Clary Medal Award
Deadline:  February 7, 2020
Awarded to one male and one female graduating senior student-athlete participating on a sanctioned varsity sport team during his/her senior year at a North Carolina High School Athletic Association member school.  Athlete must have participated on at least two sanctioned varsity sports during his/her high school career. Each recipient receives a one-time $2,000.00 scholarship award.

NCHSAA Willie Bradshaw Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Deadline:  February 7, 2020
To provide scholarship support to an outstanding African American, American Indian/Alaska Native* and/or Asian Pacific Islander American**, or Hispanic American student-athlete participating on a sanctioned varsity team at a North Carolina High School Athletic Association member school.

NCHSAA Lacrosse Scholarship
Deadline:  March 6, 2020
Awarded to one male and one female senior varsity lacrosse players from an NCHSAA member high school.  To be eligible, the student-athlete must be accepted to play lacrosse on the varsity collegiate level of an NCAA or NAIA program (not club level team).  Recipients will receive a one-time $500.00 scholarship.

NCHSAA Tony Cullen Memorial Scholarship
Deadline:  March 6, 2020
To provide scholarship support for one senior male high school student athlete participating on the varsity level lacrosse team at a North Carolina High School Athletic Association member high school, planning to attend a college or university in pursuit of higher education. Recipient will receive a one-time award of $1,000.00.

NCHSAA Jerry McGee Endowed Scholarship
Deadline:  March 13, 2020
Awarded to two senior year high school student-athletes from North Carolina High School Athletic Association member schools each year. This award is unique in that it honors both male and female student-athletes who have distinguished themselves by overcoming adversity and returned to excel beyond expectations in their scholastic athletic sport(s). Each recipient receives a one-time, $1,000.00 award.
