Scholarship opportunities for current Seniors (Class of 2019) will be posted on this site as they come into our office.  Most local scholarship applications will not come available until November or later.  Please check this page often as it is frequently updated.

Monthly Newsletter

A newsletter is sent out each month with additional scholarship and college information.  Seniors will have an opportunity to put their email and a parent email on the distribution list the first few weeks in September.  If you would like to make sure you are on the list, please email your counselor.

Parker McClendon Scholarship for Scouts
Deadline:  October 31, 2018

If you are a boy scout or a girl scout with a 4.0 weighted GPA please come to Student Services.
The deadline to express interest in this scholarship is October 31.   This scholarship in the past has been $5,000 renewable for each year in college.


VFW Voice of Democracy Scholarship Contest
Deadline:  October 31, 2018 (Turn in to Student Services no later than October 29)
Open to all students (in all grade levels) planning to continue their education.

ACT Student Champion Application
Deadline:  October 31, 2018
Open to graduating seniors who have overcome challenges in their lives.  Applicant should also have either a 22 ACT composite or a Gold Work Keys Certificate.

Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Scholarships
Deadline:  November 20, 2018
Open to Class of 2019 students with at least a 3.5 high school GPA, 1200 SAT score, or 26 ACT score, and have a demonstrated financial need.

Goodnight Scholars at North Carolina State University
Deadline:  December 1, 2018
Open to students who apply to NCSU by October 15, plan to study a STEM related major, and indicate a family income of less than $110,000 per year.

The Silver Pen Writing Competition
Deadline:  December 14, 2018
Essay contest open to all graduating seniors who live within 25 miles of a participating community.  Davie High's community is Homestead Hills in Winston-Salem.  Essay topic this year is "Failures and mistakes are invevitable despite our best attempts to avoid them.  Thomas Edison perfectly captured the idea that mistakes don't define a person, instead they present opportunities to learn, grow, and be in a better position to succeed.  Write an essay about your experience in learning from your failures".

NC Teaching Fellows Scholarship
Deadline:  January 7, 2019
Open to students planning a career in teaching/education.  Available at NC State, UNC Chapel Hill, UNC Charlotte, Meredith College, and Elon University.
