Dear Prospective Kindergarten Parents/Guardians:

Welcome to Davie County Schools!  Starting Kindergarten is a major event in your child’s life. Your first introduction to Davie County Schools is a program for parents, Kindergarten Orientation, which will be held at each elementary school on Thursday, March 21, 2019, at 6:00 pm.

We are delighted you have chosen to join our DCS school family. We strive to meet the educational growth of today's students and provide a positive learning environment as we prepare for the changing needs of the future. We want to prepare children with the knowledge and skills needed to excel and lead in the 21st Century through a school culture that promotes wellness, academic excellence, curiosity, and creativity.

DCS staff members, in partnership with you, are committed to ensuring that your child is engaged in extraordinary learning opportunities that stir creativity, cultivate thinking, enhance physical and mental well-being, and optimize the whole learning experience. Children, their families, and our dedicated staff; the community who make our schools special.  Enrolling a child in a new school can be overwhelming, but we hope the information below will be helpful.

DCS uses online enrollment forms.  To begin the enrollment process and avoid lines in the computer lab on March 21st, you may complete online enrollment from home.  On or after March 1st, use the links above in step #1 to complete online enrollment forms.   If you have questions, please contact your elementary school at the number listed below.

On March 21st you will meet your kindergarten teachers, administration, and support staff.  You will have an opportunity to hear about the educational programs offered for your child, sign up for your school’s kindergarten screening and participate in a school tour for you and your child.

The following documents are required to be submitted to your school by the state of North Carolina to complete your child’s registration. We ask you to present this information to the elementary school in your attendance zone on March 21st.

  • Proof of age (a certified birth certificate) must be five on or before August 31st

  • Proof of Davie County Residency (power bill, water bill)

  • Kindergarten Health Assessment (the physical cannot be prior to 8/27/2018) and North Carolina Immunization Records - most children receive immunizations at their five-year-old checkup.  If your child’s five-year-old checkup is after March 15th turn this information in immediately following the appointment.

If you are unable to attend orientation, please call your school after March 15th to schedule a screening time.
