Back To School Community Efforts

Davie County is fortunate that we have such tremendous community support for education. To ensure that all students have a great start to school, several groups are going to extra efforts to make sure that our students receive the supplies and encouragement needed to succeed. If there are other group efforts that would like to be included on this page or if you are interested in learning more, please contact Stephanie Koefoed by email or by calling 336-751-5921, option 4.

A Storehouse for Jesus
Distribution of School Supplies is to Davie County school children only and proof of residence is required.  Please check with A Storehouse for Jesus for distribution details.

Back 2 School Empowerment Day
The Back 2 School Empowerment Day event will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2016, from 12:00- 4:00 pm at the Davie High Gym. The Back 2 School Empowerment Initiative’s mission is to advance and advocate the common good for all Davie County students, specifically targeting those that are living below poverty guidelines. To provide a platform to communicate information that will inspire, empower, motivate and equip our students to Get Ready, Get Set and Succeed in the upcoming school year.

Build A Backpack
The Build A Backpack program is intended to help students in need with basic school supplies provided in a backpack. This effort is lead by Walmart and supported by the Davie County United Way, Davie County Schools and many businesses, organizations and community members.

Applications will be taken through August 21, 2016. Supplies will be collected until August 21, 2016. The backpacks will be delivered to the schools for pick up at Open House. Homeschoolers will be notified by email with pick up details. Complete School Supplies Lists and Open House information will be posted on the Davie County Schools' website.
Tools for Schools
After Build A Back collections at Walmart have been completed and through August 31, schools have the opportunity to collect school supplies for their supply closets through WFMY's Tools for Schools.  Interested schools and school clubs will need to schedule their time(s) with Stephanie Koefoed.
