Davie County Board of Education Names New Superintendent
The Davie County Board of Education is pleased to announce the selection and election of Mr. Jeff Wallace as the next superintendent of the Davie County Schools (DCS). Mr. Wallace will take office on May 15, 2019.
During the search process, the board carefully reviewed applications from a diverse field of twenty-six excellent candidates. Although many qualified candidates applied, the board felt that Mr. Wallace’s experience, leadership, and dedication to students would best serve DCS students, staff, and the community for years to come. The board is confident that Mr. Wallace will lead the school system to even higher achievement.
Mr. Wallace has enjoyed a long and successful career in public education spanning over twenty-five years in North Carolina. Most recently, he has served as the Associate Superintendent for Human Resources and Operations for the Davie County Schools. Prior to assuming his current position, Mr. Wallace served as the principal of Davie County High School. Mr. Wallace also previously served as a principal and assistant principal in the Yadkin County Schools. He began his career in public education as a teacher and coach in the Yadkin County Schools.
Mr. Wallace has an impressive academic background as well, including a bachelor’s degree in history and secondary education from Appalachian State University and a master’s degree in school administration from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Active and invested in his community, Mr. Wallace has served on the Davie Family YMCA Board and the Davie County Juvenile Crime Prevention Council. He is currently serving as a deacon at Calvary Baptist Church and a member of the United Way of Davie County Board.
Mr. Wallace and his wife Kelli have been married for nearly 23 years and are the proud parents of Caleb and Claire, both Davie County High School graduates. Caleb is a junior attending Emory and Henry College studying math and economics and playing baseball for the Wasps. Claire is almost finished with her freshman year at Appalachian State University, where she is working towards a degree in nursing. Mr. Wallace enjoys spending time with his family, camping, watching Duke Basketball, and attending the many wonderful Davie County Schools’ events.
Mr. Wallace looks forward to the opportunity to lead the Davie County Schools, and he has issued the following statement about accepting the position:
“I am deeply humbled and honored to be chosen by the Davie County Board of Education as the next superintendent of Davie County Schools. Serving students and staff is a tremendous responsibility that must be supported by effective leaders and trusting relationships. I am looking forward to continuing to serve the students, staff, parents, and the community.”
