School Health

Kathy Bokeno, RN, BSN, NCSN.
I have worked in Davie County Schools since March 2006.  I have been a school nurse at South Davie Middle School, Ellis Middle School, Cornatzer Elementary, Davie High School, and now Shady Grove Elementary.

Before coming to Davie County Schools, I worked for 15 years at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.  I also worked at WFUBMC for the Department of Public Health Sciences as a project manager on several research projects.  I received my BSN from Case Western Reserve University Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing in 1980.  I have worked In Ohio, Michigan and Kentucky as a pediatric nurse.  I received my National Certification in School Nursing August 2007.

I am at Shady Grove School on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.  Please feel free to call or stop by the health room with any questions or concerns.

• Prepare students to achieve their full potential by becoming responsible for their personal health decisions and practices. 

• Promote a healthy environment.
• Identify and correct health problems which are a deterrent to learning. 
•Educate to prevent and support policies to control the spread of infectious diseases. 
•Provide health education/services for students and school personnel. 
•Promote the eight components of a comprehensive school health program.
